BDRB X ALBERTA MUSIC ROUNDTABLE 2

@Alberta_music is partnering with @bdrbinitiative to facilitate a series of virtual roundtable discussions on anti-Black racism in Alberta’s music and associated creative industries.

Initiated, curated and coordinated in association with Breaking Down Racial Barriers (BDRB) entertainment community mainstays Ian Andre Espinet and David “Click” Cox, these discussions will be CENTRED in the voices and lived experiences of working Black music professionals from the vast segments of music entertainment.

The series is  presented with promotional support from CIMA (Canadian Independent Music Association)  and ADVANCE, Canada’s new Black Music Business Collective. Alberta Music invites members of the Black community, all stakeholders, peer and partner organizations from across the national industry to support the initiative.

Taking place on May 30th and June 1st respectively, with participants representing Southern & Northern Alberta via Calgary, Edmonton and surrounding areas, the roundtables will engage in difficult, yet critical conversations in an effort to identify the structures and behaviours that perpetuate anti-Black racism within the music entertainment industry in Alberta.
